The Questing Quill

After our little shire had been going for a few months, and we had corresponded with our superiors in the brand-new Principality of the Outlands, we discovered that we needed to have a newsletter. Jerilyn of Vert Silva, our chronicler, got to be its editor and publisher.

Thanks to Sir Michael the Lucky of Lancaster for the loan of very early copies of the Quill, which he has saved for many years.  As I get them scanned, more of these will be posted here.

The C’eilidh

The Provo/Orem area, Utah (about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City) is home to Brigham Young University (and nowadays, Utah Valley University). Though the number of active SCA folk there is often large enough to support a shire, the transient nature of college students (half the population of the city of Provo, numerically, is college students) makes it hard to keep a steady roster of officers.

Back in the early 1980s, the area made a stab at being a shire, and managed it for several years. That shire was called Cwm Maethlon. I happen to have some copies of their newsletter, The C’eilidh, because one of my sisters, Lady Eveleen the Unnoticed, was their first chronicler.  Since there’s no better place to post these newsletters, I’m adding them to the Loch Salann Ancient History site.

The Provo/Orem area is now the Province of Arrow’s Flight.
